Here we are almost to 2019, and I think I’m still full from Christmas dinner.
Yep, I admit it, I ate to my heart’s (if not my stomach’s) content this year.
Hors d’oeuvres, the main course…and oh my, the desserts.
As I’ve eased into middle age (fifty is still the new twenty, right?), I’ve noticed that my metabolism, along with everything else, except wrinkle production, unfortunately, has slooooooowed dowwwwwn. So I try to watch what I eat…usually. Not on Christmas, however.
Yep, I indulged, and I don’t regret it a bit. I had food, fun and family and it was glorious.
Now it’s time to start thinking about the New Year, and reflect upon what a year 2018 has been. Like anyone else, I’ve had my ups and downs, my highs and lows, but even if I had to slide into home plate feet first and hold my breath waiting for the ump’s call this year…I made it. We all did, and that’s something to be thankful for.
I have such fun and ambitious plans for the New Year, and I’m determined that my 2019 will be bigger and better than my 2018. Here’s to hoping that the highs are higher, and the lows are less painful.
I love the feeling of sitting back and just enjoying time with family and friends during the holidays. Seeing the smiles on the faces of those whom I care about most.
It’s truly a blessing to be surrounded by love and laughter, and I cherished every minute of it. One of my grandsons is convinced that my name is Awesome. Not Nana, not Grammy, not Gran. Awesome. Do you have any idea what it’s like to walk into a room and have a cherubic four year old throw his hands into the air and exclaim, “Awesome’s here!!”?
I gotta tell ya, it’s pretty awesome. See what I did there?
So let me tell you dear ones – family, friends, readers – you’re AWESOME! And I hope your 2019 will be awesome too. For my part, I’m hoping to shower you with more and better books.
